NOTE FROM THE ARTIST: This piece is inspired by a photo that I took on South Congress in 2012. In the 10 years that have passed since snapping that photo, nearly all of the local shops featured here have been replaced by national chains (except Austin Motel!) as the street has continued to grow in popularity. I’ll always love South Congress — what it was, what it is, and what it will be — but I’ll never miss an opportunity to pay homage to the ATX of my youth.
